Cambodia Gambling Dens

[ English ]

There is a captivating history to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just over the dividing line from next door Thailand, in which gambling den gaming is not allowed. Eight casinos are situated in a generally tiny location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent spot, a 3 to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest betting locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The phenomenal capital gained from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a couple of limitations constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mainly Thai; however, financial sources are ambiguous. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 17:00, and even though visas are apparently required to cross, there are means around this, as is true of most border crossings.

The original Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored barge casino, features 150 slot machines and 60 table games. The Naga gambling den never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of blackjack, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long followed. There are one hundred and fifty slot machines and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slots and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 one armed bandits and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slots and 66 of the common tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an international vacation and hotel building that highlights numerous comforts on top of the casino, which has 10,000 sq.ft. of 130 slot machines and eighty eight tables.
